[summary]

Working with clients to reduce their costs for development and to increase user accessibility and experience for their online-based information and training applications, my goal is to use advanced digital design principles, techniques and tools to develop 3D visualization and interactive content for sales, marketing and educational materials. For the development organization, my experience gives me the ability to create these applications within timeline and budgets constraints to maximize profit.

[projects]
  • 3D and Multimedia projects include:

    • Online-based science testing system for the Minnesota Department of Education. MDE's large-scale online training system is meant to streamline their training process and improve student testing efficiency through the use of immersive interactive training modules. Working with the client, my function was to produce a series of 3D animations depicting students performing a large variety of science experiments, aiding in students' understanding of subject matter. Was responsible for modeling, animation and rendering of all content including characters, science equipment and environments.

    • 3D Interactive heart device training application for Atritech, Inc. Goal is to reduce the cost of physical simulator-based training by allowing physicians to practice the surgical procedure of inserting the Watchman® device into the heart's left atrial appendage with a conveniently accessible, online-based application. The 3D modeling also allows the physician an inside the heart point of view following the device into position they cannot get with a physical simulator or during the actual procedure thus increasing the success of proper device placement and reducing complications or harm to the patient. Was responsible for a modeling, animating and rendering of 3D content.

    • Transplant Anatomy Tour for Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. A step-by-step guide educating patients about transplant surgery from pre-surgery to post-op pertaining to the transplant of kidneys, the liver and the pancreas. Through the use of animations and audio, the goal of the module was to help alleviate the patient anxiety of transplant surgery by explaining the function of the various organs, the painless process of the surgery, and the post-op care they will receive. For this piece I was responsible for all 3D content, the animations, cutting the audio, assembling all assets in Flash and creating the steps for each organ's procedure.

    • Silver dihydrogen citrate animation for Pure Bioscience. Client desired rich visual content for presentation to investors explaining the two methods by which their SDC molecule killed microorganisms. Was successful in meeting the client's needs by creating a 3D animation that depicted these processes. Was responsible for the art direction of project as well as storyboarding and all modeling, animating and rendering.

    • Arterial Stent Delivery training application for St. Jude Medical, Inc. Client desired an interactive learning system. The goal was to reduce hands on training costs and thoroughly educate users by offering a self-paced learning environment utilizing detailed step-by-step animations of the device's function both outside and inside the patient. Was responsible for a modeling, animating and rendering of 3D content.

    • Human Papillomavirus Vaccine Dosage Administration Simulation. Interactive graduate thesis project illustrating the benefit of developing a virtual lab to increase testing efficiency. Also is usesd as a training application to develop a deeper understanding of microbiological processes. The simulation allows users to administer a series of serotypes in an effort to induce lysis in HPV infected cells. For this project I modeled and rendered all visual content, developed the application GUI and programmed all logic and interactivity of the simulation.

  • Web projects include:

    • As a software engineer, was responsible for the creation of Web and multimedia applications, including a Business Rate Calculator deployed on the United States Postal Service's website that allows mailers to easily calculate postage from their computers. Although the application has been recently updated, the application maintained ten years of usage on USPS.com.

[medical laboratory experience]
  • Cytology Lab Preparation Technician:

    • Gross and prepare GYN and non-GYN specimens; Thin Prep sample preparation; Fine Needle Aspiration sample preparation; staining and cover slipping of specimen slides; operation of laboratory machinery; cell block preparation; patient information data entry
